e-letter: 7 Keys to a Perfect Pitch

By July 14, 2015 No Comments
Is there a secret sauce to delivering a perfect or winning pitch?
How can hedge fund managers communicate like a pro when facing prospective investors in person? “Experience, courage and practice are all required, but have no fear, the ability to sell and communicate successfully can be done!” notes Jim Rosebush, CEO and Founder of Growth Strategy Inc., former senior advisor to President Ronald Reagan, and speaker/coach at Hedge Connection’s Global Fund Forum 2015.

The Seven Keys (Watch the video)
Mr. Rosebush, who coached the participants of Global Fund Forum’s asset allocation competition The Pitch in Bermuda, highlighted 7 keys to a winning pitch.

1. Start at the end. Envision the final results. Know exactly where you want your audience to land and start by expecting that your objectives will be achieved.

2. Visualize when you talk. Communication is mental transfer, so you need to be as picturesque and visual as you can to achieve the necessary transfer of your strategy and capabilities.

3. Associate your strategy with impact. Match what you are selling with what the marketplace actually demands or seeks.

4. Build a bridge. Research your investor and establish a relationship.

5. Be focused yet exceptionally prepared. It’s easier to talk than be heard. Welcome the tough questions from your audience.

6. Know what you believe and why. Authenticity is critical.

7. Know yourself. 75% of all communication is non-verbal. Selling revolves around who you are and why you are pitching the strategy.

You can communicate effectively and succeed if you have something valuable to say and know how to deliver the message to your audience.
